Core Level Recorder System

PDFPrintE-mail

Coretrack’s primary product, the Core Level Recorder System (CLRS), is a measuring and recording device that is placed inside the inner core barrel and records the amount of core captured, and in real time transmits that information to the rig floor.

This world first, world class technology enables an explicit measurement of the acquisition of a core sample during a coring operation. The CLRS will allow the operators on the rig floor to compare the ROP (rate of penetration) to the actual intake of core inside the core barrel.

Specifically, the information sent to the rig floor will reveal the progress of the core column captured in a distance versus time format. This data informs the drilling engineer in real time whether the core is jammed and/or core is being milled. This information increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the decision making process on the drilling rig and abolishes undetected core jams and undetected milling.

The data provided by the CLRS will also supply geologists with an accurate core to log correlation and hence certainty in the core to reservoir analysis.

Real time measurement of core intake translates into direct tangible benefits for the oil and gas industry:

  • Real time measurement whilst coring
  • Immediate identification of core milling
  • Immediate core jam notification
  • No stop losses due to information uncertainty
  • No need for expensive deviated wells to re-do jobs gone wrong
  • Centimetre accurate core-to-log correlation
  • Vastly improved core recovery data
  • Certainty in respect of core-to-reservoir correlation
  • Reduced exploration risk
  • Reduced development risk
  • Substantial cost savings
